Week 9 Personal Blog
Same as last week, I'll be separating my contribution into multiple parts. I am going to start off with game director.
I hosted multiple meeting with both asset team and program team to make sure everyone is on the right track. With the programming team, my main goal during the meetings was to make sure that the combo and ultimate system are properly imported. And we are achieving the best we could do within our technical abilities. For our asset team, I mainly go over the number of assets we could create with the time given since assets usually take days to create. As the game director, I also created our playtest document which includes potential questions we want the playtesters to answer, and I wrote about what we have finished for this alpha playtest. Lastly, I created our presentation slides that are used for the alpha demo.
As an asset member, I started off my week by importing the entire level into unity and added in the box collider according to the level. After that, I put my main focus on creating animation for our main character; this includes rolling and fixing the existing ultimate animation to make it more fluid. Lastly, I drew some basic UI assets for both health bar and ultimate.
I am pretty happy about our progress with the game, although it has many similarities to other titles within the industry. For my personal reflection, I kind of got overwhelmed by the amount of work from this course this week, and I was not able to double check on the rubric requirement from the canvas. We missed multiple document requirement because of that. Next time, I'll make sure I have the time to double check before we submit.
For my team, I am happy about the progress, but I would be happy if they can help me out on checking the rubric and documents.
