Team Progress Week 3
Week three is quite a slow week for SquareOne due to many works that need to be done for the course. To start off the week, we wanted to keep pushing our pacing for the models and expected to complete the rigging process; we also assigned some programming work which includes pattern bullets and basic attack indication; we also decided to refine the weapon model; lastly, we have to complete the game design document which includes finishing off the story and providing concept arts.
However, the thing does not move as smooth as we desired for this week. First, the rigging apparently is way harder than we thought, the character model that we created might be just a little bit too complex, mainly on the clothing. Therefore, we had to remodel the character and replace some clothing with basic texturing. We expect to rig to take up to another 2 weeks to fully be finished. Next, due to the amount of work that was pushed down, we were not able to start the programming part, therefore, the work will be pushed to next week. We did successfully refine the old weapon model and the new one looks fantastic. We were able to complete the GDD with multiple sketches and concept art attached to it.
Moving on to the next week, we are still planning on trying to figure out the best way to rig the character, since animation plays a big part in our game. We will be also modeling more of our environmental assets. Our programmer will resume on completing the pattern bullet hell and simple attack indicator. We will be also refining some of the stories.
Unfortunately, compared to previous week, this is surely the slowest week of our studio. However, every member is working really hard on trying to complete their task, and this is probably the first roadblock that we encounter. Hopefully, next week everything will run smoother.
Please stay tuned to our individual blog for updates on the progress. Thanks for reading.
