Team Progress Week 9
Week 9 is quite hectic for us since our main goal was to push out the Alpha version of the game. Coming into the week, we received comments from our TA about the identity crisis of our game. Since we already put in so much work into the game, there are the only limited amount of things that we could actually change. After confirming with the TA, we came to the conclusion on changing some of the visuals for the game.
For this week, our programming team focused on finishing the combat system. To start off, we made sure that our basic damaging ability works; this includes right click charge attacks and combo system. After that, we transferred player's range attack from the 'follower' to actual player, changing it from a spammable ability to an ultimate that is rewarded to the player after damaging enemies. We also added in rolling which is an invincible frame, which allows the player to dodge abilities. Lastly, we added in range enemies to give the game more dynamics.
For our asset team, we started off by completing the level asset for the playtest. After that, we focused on creating animation for both rolling and ultimate attacks. We also created the model and animation for the range enemies. We finished off by creating box colliders for the level of Unity.
We created a list of 27 questions for the playtest, and hosted 5 different playtest session. We were able to receive valuable feedback from the player and for the coming weeks, we will try to fix those issues.
